Ozio’s-Review

15 11 2007

By Citi D.

For some reason, my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday kicking back at Ozio’s.  Immediately, I thought of old men spitting game while puffing on cheap cigars.

Not my idea of a great Saturday night.

But as the night drew nearer, I found myself looking forward to checking this spot out. A few of my people let me know that this was becoming the place for Saturdays, “a chill lounge, with plenty of beautiful people…but not so much that you’re overwhelmed by the crowd”.

So, I reserved three tables (my crew rolls deep), got the birthday girl a cake, then met up with the homies at Stonefish for pre-gaming and good food. (I had been craving lobster all week, so I definitely ordered it as soon as I sat down. The Patron shots in me told me not to care about price even though this entree isnt even on the menu…the bill wasn’t as high as I thought it would be though).

Drove into the heart of DC, and was AMPED to find out that there’s a 7 dollar parking garage directly across from Ozio’s. A no-brainer.

Walked inside, and asked the hostess where our tables were. The staff at Ozio’s is pretty nice. From the guy I booked the table from, to our actual waiter…very pleasant experience. (Shout out to David…his first night and he did a wonderful job)

Atmosphere: dark and not nearly as smoky as I would think a cigar bar would be. But you WILL smell a bit like tobacco when you leave. Bars everywhere, 4 levels in case you get bored, and a nice amount of seating for those not fortunate enough to have table reservations.

Drinks/Food: The girls and I made a wrong first choice in drinks. They were having a special on certain martinis, and we picked the sweetest concotion ever. Can’t remember the name, but it had amaretto in it. (Not wise, after straight shots of premium tequila) From then on out, we just went with your regular Goose and pineapple..which was actually sort of watered down. On a scale of 1-5, a 3. Get your weight up.

We also ordered food (where that entire lobster stuffed with crab went in my stomach, I’ll never know): simple appetizers of wings and mozzarella sticks to curb the effects of that first round of sugary drinks. Pretty tasty, would definitely like to explore the rest of the menu.

I liked this place, a perfect alternative to the club scene catering to the 25 and up scene (didn’t see to many dusty old men, to my suprise).

Looking forward to another trip to Ozios. This time, I’ll actually watch the bartender make my drink, and dare his/her ass to be stingy on the booze. I’ll also partake of the cigar menu (only one I ever smoked was in Havana, Cuba…that’s just not an opportunity you pass up), and order something different from the menu.

So you can find me in Ozios, propped up with a martini in one hand, cigar in the other…doing the damn thing.

I understand from my son Erik that your establishment is at the top of the charts and one of the best cigar martini bars any where to be found. I plan to visit Ozio’s when I see my son and I want you to know you are blessed to have Erik beginning to work there——he is brilliant and a total plus.
